Location: Virtual Exhibition (Kunstmatrix)
Archive Location: Art Stylus Archives

Overview

The exhibition invited audiences into the ancient laurel forest of Fanal on Madeira, where each tree stands as a sculptural presence — shaped by time, bent by wind, and wrapped in mist. Solitary figures or hushed assemblies of forms offered a contemplative view of resilience and constant transformation.

Michael Cluyse is a landscape, wildlife, and astrophotographer whose creative journey began in 2020. Deeply connected to nature since childhood, he has spent countless summers hiking across the European mountains and later ventured with the same passion into more remote terrains — from the dramatic fjords of Norway to the vast canyons of the United States. His work explores the dialogue between light and landscape, seeking moments where natural phenomena reveal their poetic essence.

Curator's Note

These digital exhibitions can preserve the memory of a journey or inspire new ones. Fanal Forest is both a record of a personal encounter with nature and an example of how a visual story can live beyond its moment. Projects like this offer young artists a way to experiment with digital formats and become involved from concept to presentation in the curatorial process.
